Teasing the Palate:
The commercial food industry tends to overlook food palatability from a dog’s standpoint. Flavors and odors are far more likely to be negative, rather than positive, factors in a dog’s interest in food. Additionally, dogs care about the texture of their food, and some studies have shown that a low-salt diet is preferred almost two to one. Freshly made food is often sold frozen, but this should not be considered a negative selling point. On the contrary, frozen food will retain its fresh flavor longer and tends to be rated highest by discerning dogs.
